In 2005 the Kuwait Government permitted the establishment of non-state airlines, essentially ending Kuwait’s 50-year-old dependency on a single airline. Jazeera Airways is the first privately owned airline in Kuwait and the Middle East, and one of the few airlines in the region to be built on a low-fares model. Ink produces an Arabic and English website and magazine that reflects the airline’s operating ethos: smart, nimble and punching above its weight. Stories in J magazine focus on new talent, entrepreneurial successes and street-savvy initiatives. Similarly, travel stories concentrate on seeking the alternative and off-beat, from eco-ventures in Jordan to heading off in search of street art in Alexandria. Plus every issue has concise and opinionated guides to each and every one of Jazeera’s destinations.
