The Job

Ink is the world’s leading producer of inflight magazines with over 25 titles in our portfolio. Our media channels reach half a billion passengers per year travelling to hundreds of destinations around the world. Our sales executives sell advertising space in our inflight magazines to businesses who benefit from attracting a large travelling audience. Most of our inflight magazines are published monthly, though some are bi-monthly or quarterly.

You 


You will manage the entire sales process to ensure delivery against key performance metrics, with a primary emphasis on the generation of new business along with account management of your clients. Successful sales executives need to be aware of changes in the market that impact their target audience. You will be dealing with buyers, directors and key decision makers - negotiating terms of contracts and closing deals with them on a daily basis. In addition you will also be:

  • Sourcing new leads on a daily basis and cold calling potential clients
  • Defining client needs, handling objections and negotiating
  • Building long term relationships with your clients businesses
  • Minimum of 10 effective calls every day
  • Some travel may be required

Ink is looking for a Spanish-speaking editor for Nexos, a bi-monthly Spanish/Portuguese-language inflight magazine.

The successful candidate will be resourceful, motivated and versatile. He/she will have a passion for travel, food and culture, and be fluent in spoken and written Spanish, with substantial (minimum two years) experience in Spanish-language print media. The candidate must be proficient in the writing, editing and assigning of short and long-form stories, and should have a grasp of the magazine publishing process. Fluency in Portuguese is preferred, but not essential. Fluency in written and spoken English is a must.

The Deputy Editor will work under the Content Director and the U.S. Editor-in-Chief and work closely with the art team.

Duties:

- Generate, select and assign stories for the magazine 

- Provide writers and photographers with guidelines and direction for stories

- Line edit and copy edit stories

- Read and correct proofs

- Assist with administrative duties, including author contracts and invoices

- Translate copy from English to Spanish and Spanish to English

- Report and write stories for the magazine, in Spanish 

- Update the website and create bespoke online content

- Work closely with the art team

- Assist sister publications in reporting and writing occasional stories in English

This is a highly visible and fast paced position that requires superior organizational skills, initiative, coordination and immaculate attention to detail; hence, candidates must be comfortable working in a deadline driven and creative team environment that fosters innovative ideas, high quality results and collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•     Design entire bi-monthly publication

•     Hire photographers, stylists and makeup artists to ensure successful photoshoots

•     Find and secure photoshoot locations

•     Conduct photo research through stock agencies

•     Request images from Spanish-speaking subjects/companies

•     Create mood boards and submit ideas to Design team for final approval

•     Work closely with Editor in Chief assuring a smooth workflow

•     Manage projects from inception to production, find creative solutions under pressure and ensure our strict deadlines are met

•     Partner with Design, Editorial and Productions teams on a day-to-day basis to conceptualize, create and complete creative projects

The Role

To assist the business as a creative solutions writer, producing magazine advertorials and creative advertising solutions for a portfolio of magazine titles. Reporting directly to the Creative Solutions Manager, the role also encompasses other creative and writing duties within the department.

     

Competencies

Adobe Creative Suite understanding is essential, as well as excellent time management

Excellent telephone manner and the ability to multi-task

Experience in writing content for magazines is a must

Multi-lingual applicants are a bonus

Responsibilities  

Advertorials

Write advertorials to magazine house style.

Bring native content to life with sharp, smart and powerful writing.

Write, edit and sub-edit copy across our portfolio of titles.
Manage workloads and stick to editorial deadlines.

Liaise with sales teams and check salesforce to list all planned advertorials for each magazine for the month.

Liaise with sales to obtain advertorial and booking confirmation forms.

Contact confirmed advertorial clients with advertorial specifications, advising on image formats, word count, and house style and requesting material from clients.
Email advertorials to clients for feedback/approval and taking in client design changes, passing text changes to the editor.
Obtain and archive client advertorial approvals.
Check designs of final printed proofs.  

Commercial Concepts

Liaise with sales and commercial teams and obtain briefs for creative concepts to be pitched to potential advertisers for display ad campaigns, high impact units and advertorials for a variety of media channels.

Research brands and brainstorm creative concepts with the team.

Working with the team to produce new concepts to inspire sales teams with innovative solutions.

Main Purpose of the Job

Creating engaging animated projects from start to finish, for editorial videos; for in-flight and online as well as promos, pitches, adverts, infomercials and more. 

 

Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years' experience.
  • A keen eye for typography, composition and storytelling. 
  • Delivering to tight deadlines.
  • Experience and a thorough working knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator.
  • A good working knowledge of Cinema 4D is preferred.
  • A basic knowledge and understanding of working with 360 degree film, AR and VR is a bonus.
  • The ability to work well with tight deadlines in a team environment is essential.
  • Develop graphics that suit the client’s needs and adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Develop concepts, graphics and layouts for visually arresting graphics - from gifs to full graphics-led videos.
  • Generate and execute ideas for pitches for new work.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Keen, ongoing awareness and interest in trends across social media, online video and TV formats.
  • A creative opportunist up for trying new ideas and thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts.
  • Keeping up to date with new technologies, software and techniques.
  • Computer (Mac) literate
  • Ability to interpret and execute instructions effectively
